has sold its tax compliance
services to Empower Corp., which was formerly known as Empagio. It represented
the final unwinding of Sage's efforts in the payroll market. The compliance
services were acquired in 2004 when Sage purchased the former Federal Liaison
Services. In August, Sage offloaded the Peachtree Managed Payroll to online
payroll provider CompuPay, signaling the end of a multi-year effort to build a
payroll business that had started under former CEO Ron Verni.
